The Foundation Course in Management with English is to be introduced by Global College Malta as a first course for students who intend to proceed to study for a degree in management at Global College Malta. It is a unique course in that it has three components – Management Studies, English Language Studies, and Management Skills. No equivalent course is offered in Malta at present.
For students who do not desire to attend a university, the course will act as a valuable stand-alone introduction to management and the English language, thus advancing their skills portfolio. The introduction of management skills will also greatly benefit students in the job market.
The course is fully accredited and approved by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education Malta (NCFHE).
Foundation Course, is it right for you?
If you would like to study for your first degree at British universities or a university with equivalent standards, you will need to do a foundation course at a college or university to prepare you for an undergraduate level.
The best way would be to choose a foundation course offered by an institute where you plan to pursue your higher education or at an institute which can ensure proper British Standards.
A foundation degree will improve your English language skills and other core subjects that you will need to successfully enrol at your desired university. If you wish to proceed to study for a degree in management and related subjects, a foundation specialised in management would be the best option for you.
Apart from studying, you will learn about university culture, your future environment and education system in a creative and encouraging way.
Do I need to do a foundation course?
Each individual comes from different backgrounds. If you studied your high school outside of the UK, you may need to take a foundation course prior to your bachelor degree. Certain countries have their compulsory education shorter than that in the UK. In these instances, a foundation course is a necessity. To be eligible for a university according to British standards, you have to meet certain criteria for admission. A foundation course will help prepare you for an IELTS examination aiming to improve your English to a standard equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above and for successful further studies at the undergraduate level.
Most of the students choosing this pathway are from overseas and those who did not study according to the British curriculum. However, demand from local students is increasing, especially among those who wish to improve their scores from high school, brush up their knowledge of core subjects or add certain specialisation.
Global College Malta offers you a foundation course according to British standards with a specialisation in Management and English. In case you have already sat for your IELTS test (or equivalent) or you believe that your English skills are sufficient to successfully pass a language test with a score equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above, you can choose a specially designed pathway including only management modules and certain English modules of your choice. For details please contact the Admissions Office.
